About
Welcome to Restaurante Don Pablo, a hidden gem tucked away in the heart of San Antonio's West Side. Located at 2162 S Laredo St #6936, this charming establishment is celebrated not just for its food but also for the warm, family-friendly atmosphere that permeates the air. Here, culinary authenticity meets genuine hospitality, making each visit a delightful experience.
In the words of one satisfied patron, R. Vargas Palacios, “Great food is always hot when served—that's important. Food is great!” This sentiment echoes through the reviews of many who have dined here, capturing the essence of what Restaurante Don Pablo brings to the table. The restaurant excels in delivering freshly prepared meals that evoke the comforting flavors of home-cooked Mexican cuisine.
The menu boasts a variety of offerings that cater to all tastes. Notably, the costillas de oven (short ribs plate) stands out as a crowd favorite, known for its tenderness and depth of flavor. Additionally, the glowing mentions of bean cheese and bacon tacos reveal a commitment to serving dishes that resonate with nostalgia—like dining in Grandma's kitchen. Delexma H eloquently captures this feeling when noting that the food is "super delicious" and “cozy.”
Every meal at Restaurante Don Pablo is an invitation to indulge. As Janet Hobbs wisely points out, the quality of the tortillas serves as a true benchmark for any Mexican restaurant. The homemade corn and flour varieties here receive rave reviews, adding a special touch to your dining experience.
However, a note of caution: recent reviews indicate that the restaurant may occasionally close earlier than advertised. Ed Wong highlights this inconsistency, which can be frustrating for loyal fans. Nonetheless, the overwhelming acclaim for the food and service at Don Pablo keeps patrons coming back for more.

“ This Authentic Mexican restaurant, Super Delicious, cozy, make you feel like you're eating Grandma's cooking. In the heart of the WEST SIDE. It did not disappoint at all from it's home made french fries to It's supuerb Pablo's plate with enchiladas, 1 puffy taco with rice and beans. Make your way in if you're in the area. Mexican food at it's finest. ”
“ Our metric fir authenticity and quality of a Mexican restaurant is the tortillas. These tortillas were amazing - both the corn and the flour. We will stop here again! ”
“ Edit: the food is still great but lately they are often closed early (based on their published hours) or not open at all. I generally love and prefer to support local business but kinda hard to do so if they aren't actually open. Original review- This is a small friendly spot, quiet and very well handled. Quality of food and service excellent, my daughter had her preferred fill of bean cheese and bacon tacos and finished every bit. Not too many places have the option even, but the costillas de oven (short ribs plate) is a major standout, very tender and delicious. Even got some to go. Good food, great prices as well. Highly recommend ”
